Cristina Perez Ramirez farms on less than ten acres at 1700 MASL in Chanjón, Todos Santos Cuchumatán, Huehuetenango. Now widowed, but supported by her children, Cristina processes coffee using her own de-pulper, drying the coffee around her house.
Cristina is a member of treasured Cooperative ASDEFLOR, with whom we have worked since 2017. This tiny collective has about 30 members, all of whom belong to the Mam Mayan indigenous community. The Association owns a communal wet-mill where most producers process their coffee, and provides access to buyers like us. Many ASDEFLOR members used to be subsistence farmers of maize and frijol who are now able to stay on their land after transitioning to coffee and finding a market that supports coffee farming viable as a livelihood.
Roasted for filter brewing.
We ship coffee as whole beans by default, if you need your coffee ground, please let us know at the checkout.
