This coffee is produced in the kebele (village) of Banko Tatatu, about 7 kilometres from the largest nearby town of Gedeb. Officially, this is part of Yirgacheffe, but is increasingly being recognised for its distinct profile.
Washing station owner Asegedech Shole purchases cherries from the smallholder farmers in the surrounding region, which is resplendent with young trees, rich soils and a perfect climate for coffee
cultivation. We’ve loved Gedeb-located Yirgacheffe coffees for a while, and were lucky to have an opportunity to buy this coffee via Andebet Kassa, whom we met in 2020. We saw a young man working with new processing styles, ridiculous levels of fruit ripeness, and a deep passion for quality. He started a new export business in 2021 with Asegedech as his key vertical integration partner.
Roasted for filter brewing.
We ship coffee as whole beans by default, if you need your coffee ground, please let us know at the checkout.
